Entrepreneur Scholarship

The University of Phoenix, Central Valley Campus in partnership with the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation and SCORE Association are offering an Entrepreneur Scholarship. 

The Scholarship with provide one (1) recipient (“Recipient”) with $1000 towards tuition expenses, one (1) year of attendance in SCORE workshops and two (2) tickets to the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation Gala on April 24th, 2020 as more fully described in the Scholarship Terms and Conditions attached to this application. 

 

Only the first 50 submitted applications that meet the defined eligibility criteria will be considered.

Deadline:

A complete application, and supporting documentation, must be submitted before the first 50 submitted Qualified Applications that meet the defined eligibility criteria have been submitted, or before

April 3rd, 2020, whichever comes first. Applications not submitted or submitted after the application limit or designated deadline will not be considered. No exceptions.

 

Award Date:

The scholarship committee will determine the recipient of the scholarship by the award date of

April 10, 2020. All applicants with a submitted application will be notified via email, regardless if selected as a recipient or not, by award date regarding the status of the scholarship.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

 

  1. Be a full-time associate, bachelor or graduate student currently attending an accredited community college or four-year college or university within Fresno County.

  2. If selected, applicants must continue to meet all admissions requirements of their current college or university as a scholarship recipient.

  3. Be 18-years of age or older at the time the scholarship is submitted or at the time the scholarship is awarded.

  4. Hold a grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) and be in good behavioral standing with their institution. 

  5. Applicants must not be an employee (including full- and part-time faculty) or a family member (spouse, dependent child or domestic partner) of an employee of University of Phoenix, Apollo Education Group, Inc, Western International University or any other affiliate of University of Phoenix, Inc. or be an employee or board member of the Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation or SCORE. 

  6. Applicants must submit a complete, signed application, together with all supporting documentation by the Deadline. The completion of the application form does not create an obligation to award a scholarship to the applicant.

  7. Applicants must submit a completed essay as described in the Essay section. High importance will be placed on the applicant’s ability to demonstrate their desire to enter the field of business entrepreneurship by providing a one-page essay demonstrating their desire, skills, and abilities conducive to independent employment.

  8. The Recipient must attend the 2020 Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation Gala (“Gala”). Failure to attend the Gala will result in the forfeiting of the Scholarship award.

  9. Applicants must return a completed application, official transcripts with GPA information, and a one-page essay to UOPCentralValleyScholarship@phoenix.edu by April 3, 2020.
